Independent Booksellers’ Week

In case you hadn’t heard, it’s Independent Booksellers’ Week in the UK!  From today until the 6th of July, we are invited to enjoy and explore our local independents, whether they’re old favourites or new finds, and join in with a community of other readers to celebrate these special places.

IndieBound, who run the brilliant Keep Books on the High Street campaign have written about the event on their website, saying that it ‘promotes independent bookshops, great books, strong reading communities, and the idea of shopping locally and sustainably.’  I couldn’t have put it better myself.

In honour of the occassion, I will be posting about one independent bookshop in London every day this week. It’s a bit ambitious but I’ll try my best!  Hopefully it will give you some ideas for how you can get involved too, here in London or wherever in the world you happen to be.

As always, happy reading.

  1. Looking forward to it.

  2. Something I would *love* to support – alas a quick check on their site revealed that my nearest indy shop is nearly 10 miles away…. 😦
